Before moving to New York, I was an independent filmmaker—writing and directing a vaguely autobiographical film called GayTV: The Movie. It’s a comedy about a brother and sister who take over a bankrupt cable station and launch their own network called GayTV. The station features parodies like Charlie’s Post-Op Angels and GayE.R. The movie played to standing room only crowds in such glamorous and far flung gay film festivals in Turin, Italy and Philadelphia, PA.
