Hey Lisa! Thank you so much for coming and supporting Alphabet City.
The iPhone app you are referring to is Swipe from AppNinjas - http://appninjas.com/
I've really had a great experience with it. From what I remember, the app Swipe itself is free or relatively inexpensive. But then you do have to set up a merchant account with a credit card clearing house. The appninja/swipe folks will walk you through the whole process that involves a lot of paperwork, bank details, etc. Basically, they don't want just everyone being able to process credit cards - which makes sense. There's a basic $10/month fee and then you pay a percentage per transaction that is usually around 15 cents + 2% -- it varies b/c it depends on the type of credit card people use (cards that earn frequent flier miles have a slightly higher rate, for example). But it always seems pretty low to me. One thing to keep in mind, is that in months where you don't generate at least $25 in additional transaction fees, you pay a $25 fee to maintain your service - for a minimum total of $35 per month. It all seems good to me.
Let me know if you have any other questions - and I hope to see you soon!
Best,
Jon Paul

Howdy Jon Paul,
What fun meeting you a few weeks ago at Tammy's in Austin! A fascinating life that's really just begun. Love seeing genuinely nice, talented people succeed.
Wanted to ask about the phone app you were using to process book sales. As I mentioned, I'm working w/a lovely woman-web entrepreneur-journalist-author (more dashes, believe me) who should know about this as she gets on the book signing trail. Know you're busy, but if you get a chance to respond, I'd be most thankful. Also, love to exchange any insider tips (for PR gal in restaurant, beauty & women's issues) inside CN sometime...
Have a fantastic tour; sounds like you already are.
