Jon Paul Buchmeyer is a NYC-based writer, publicist and (former) filmmaker. Liza sings, “Life is a cabaret.” Well, mine is more like a sitcom. Although, I do burst into song quite often.
Originally from Texas, I moved to Manhattan in my late 20s, believing that I am a gay Mary Tyler Moore. I mistakenly fell into a job in public relations that created a madcap series of story lines, including a mishap with Whoopi Goldberg’s Oscar, a mistaken identity as Tyra Banks’ Turkish boy-toy, and finishing school lessons in the gossipy halls of Condé Nast. Guest appearances have included Cameron Diaz, Gloria Estefan, Boy George, Teri Hatcher, Derek Jeter, Ashley Judd, Rosie O’Donnell, Graham Norton, Vanessa Williams and more. Jon Paul…I have read the kindle version of Alphabet City and as Gayle King would say, Loved, Loved, Loved it…I have just bought two copies on Lulu – one for me to have as a keepsake for my fun NYC summer and 1 for my friend, Shay, who was there with me at the time…Hope to see you on the ‘book tour’ this summer because I know you’ll make a Texas stop…if you do, I’d be happy to make your mom’s famous queso and some pigs in a blanket
